How to Fight Your Facebook Addiction |

Facebook is a fun way to connect with old friends, upload pictures, take quizzes, play scrabulous, check out events, make comments on walls, and completely waste your whole day. There was life before facebook, and there are ways to fight the urge to sign on to it every 5 minutes!

  1. Step 1

Actually call up a friend you want to reconnect with. Make a plan to get a cup of coffee or simply catch up on the phone.

  2. Step 2

Select and print out your favorite pictures of you and your friends from the past few months. Spend an afternoon creating an album–a real one–and make labels for each picture so you can remember the events better.

  3. Step 3

Start a real game of scrabble with your roommate. Set it up in a common area and whenever either of you pass it on the way to the bathroom, take your turn.

  4. Step 4

Buy a crossword puzzle book. When you are bored, work on a puzzle. This is more fun and better for your brain than movie quizzes.

  5. Step 5

If you are afraid of missing out on an event, simply check in with your friends via email or a phone call a few times a week to make sure you aren’t missing anything.

  6. Step 6

Find websites that will occupy your time and challenge your brain at the same time, such as (see Resources below). Web-surfing is always better if you are learning something!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t have your email and password saved on your Internet browser. The 10 seconds it takes your to type it in can be 10 seconds you will have to reconsider.
  • Avoid having as your home page or on your bookmarks.
